Tyne Theatre is Proud to Announce a new Naming Sponsor

The Tyne Theatre Newcastle, managed by SMG Europe, is the oldest working Victorian theatre in the world. For the past 5 years it has been known as The Journal Tyne Theatre and it has enjoyed a very successful partnership with the newspaper during these formative years when SMG were first appointed to manage this historic venue; we are now however delighted to announce a brand new chapter in the theatre’s long fascinating history, the announcement of our proud new naming sponsor, Mill Volvo.

Mill Volvo are a highly respected garage retail group based in the North East of England, with large modern retail outlets located in the larger towns within our area. They have previously been keen supporters and promoters of large events at our sister venue, the Metro Radio Arena, and are now delighted to be involved with SMG on a long term basis at the Tyne Theatre, following the signing of an initial 2 year contract.

Theatre Director, Phil Smith said, ‘We are delighted to welcome our friends at Mill Volvo as our new partners for what promises to be an exciting new era in the history of the Tyne Theatre.’

The new commercial arrangement came into effect from 1st January 2012, and will mean a change of name from The Journal Tyne Theatre, to Mill Volvo Tyne Theatre. This change of name will be reflected in all aspects of the venue, from exterior signage, and all marketing media, including the venue website, which has now changed to;
