Sarah Millican is hoping to become the Queen of Comedy

Sarah Millican has had an incredible 2011, with numerous TV appearances and sell out shows. But it could soon be topped off, with a British Comedy Award, pronouncing her as the Queen of Comedy.

The South Shields born comic has been shortlisted for two awards; Peoples choice for King or Queen of comedy and best female TV comedian award.

The first sees her being pitted up against giants such as David Mitchell, Jo Brand, Graham Norton, Jack Whitehall and Miranda Hart.

The award for best female TV comedian also includes Miranda and Jo Brand, aswell as the incredible Victoria Wood. But Sarah won't have to wait too long to find out, as the two-hour awards ceremony will be held this Friday and aired live on Channel 4.

Sarah won't have too long to ponder over these awards though, as she is set for an even bigger year next year, with her gigantic tour and new TV show that has been commisioned by BBC Two.

We at The Journal Tyne Theatre wish Sarah the best of luck and if you want to see Sarah, there is limited availability for her incredible 10-show run here at the Theatre.
