Gavin Webster (16+)

Cult Geordie comic, Gavin Webster, is set to return to the Journal Tyne Theatre on Friday 2nd March 2012, to share his hard-edged observations and Tyneside tales with a native audience.

Following a successful run in Edinburgh, which saw Webster unashamedly tear apart youth culture whilst reaping rapturous applause from the bright young things in the crowd, the renowned comic is back on his stomping ground - freshly armed with a whole host of new material and a smattering of classics.

For a stand up who isn't a big television name, Webster attracts a following in the North East as big as many a TV personality, probably down to his original, legendary, close to the bone routines like the BBC world service reporting from Newcastle's West End or the Gateshead council Third Reich.

He has enjoyed touring the length and breadth of the country, numerous radio projects, TV appearances and collaboration with stars such as Sarah Millican and Jason Manford on the BBC prime time family show, Walk on the Wild Side. Webster’s new show, however, is reserved strictly for the 16+ crowd, as his observational humour is delivered in a no holds barred, one-man battering ram of hilarity.

Add to that his legendary guitar and ukulele sardonic comedy songs, and the Tyne Theatre audience are set for a whole 90 minutes of relentless laughter.

“Webster is the sort of natural performer who can't help but capture your attention.” **** British Comedy Guide
